Upon checking in, guests shoot by elevator from the ground-floor lobby to the facilities high above, where all rooms offer a spectacular, panoramic view of the city.
The 158 guest rooms and suites are tastefully furnished with beautiful Asian artwork, lavish linens and handsome blond wood furnishings. The rooms feature luxurious marble baths with deep soaking tubs, natural loofah sponges and English toiletries and some have floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Unlike most modern buildings, the Mandarin Oriental’s windows open to the high, fresh air and the clang of the cable cars far below.
Once settled, guests enjoy a complimentary Japanese-style tea service. Discreet, informed and ever-available staff ensure all guests’ subsequent needs will be met.
In surroundings inspired by Marco Polo’s odyssey to the East, guests may savor California cuisine with unique Asian touches in the award-winning Silks restaurant, or choose to enjoy a cocktail and “small plates” dining in The Mandarin Lounge.
