Vibrant color and a dash of Moroccan flair heighten the character of the hotel’s bold Spanish Revival architecture. Gilded cherubs adorning an ornate ceiling overlook the lobby’s rose-colored walls, theatrical murals, whimsical faux marble pillars, sumptuous rugs, marble fireplace and potted palms. Guests may select from an extensive library of games and puzzles at the front desk.
The 236 eclectic guest rooms are vivaciously decorated in rich tones of navy, red and gold with dramatic striped drapes framing oversized, soundproof windows. All feature high ceilings, cherry wood headboards and theater-themed artwork.
Theater enthusiasts will love the American Conservatory Theatre Suite. Fashioned after the nearby theater of the same name, the suite has its own “green room” with A.C.T.-produced scripts, while the bedroom “stage” is complete with curtains, a proscenium and theatrical lighting.
A vast, curvy bar backed by three large tropical fish tanks is a highlight of the hotel’s trendy Ponzu restaurant, where diners feast on inventive Asian food amidst an exotic and whimsical décor.
