Built in 1914, the Chancellor Hotel is a charming, Edwardian-style boutique hotel with a magnificent Union Square address.

Family owned for four generations, the Chancellor Hotel was originally constructed for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition. Fully restored at the turn of the millennium, the property exudes old world charm and historic elegance. The enormous mural that reads "Chancellor" down the hotel's outside wall has been there since it opened in 1914.

Guests entering the period-style lobby are greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows and beautifully framed photos highlighting the buildings construction. Oriental rugs, a mahogany bar and granite-topped registration desk inform the visitor they are experiencing a wonderful representative of a bygone era.

The 137 moderately sized rooms include all the basic amenities one would expect including windows that open to views and fresh breezes. The Chancellor Hotel allows guests to select from a pillow menu that features 12 different pillow types. The small, well-maintained bathrooms feature generous sized tubs and a friendly rubber ducky to bathe with.

Luques Restaurant, located just off the lobby of the hotel, features California cuisine and an extensive wine list in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
