Built in 1929, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins is a breathtaking meld of French château and Spanish Renaissance styles. A buttery palette of deep reds, gold and ivory warms the elegant lobby. Sofas and overstuffed chairs are covered in sumptuous chenilles, tapestry and velvets and arranged for intimacy on handwoven carpets over the hotel’s original marble floor.
